The University at Albany acquired the city of Albany’s Old High School, which will undergo a 5-year phased renovation. The building is being redesigned to accommodate the new College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and incorporate swing space for faculty and students during the renovation of neighboring University buildings. The renovation also serves to activate and revitalize the downtown campus through new student amenities, a re-orientation of the building’s entrance, and a central chiller plan to serve all the buildings in the downtown campus. The Old High School’s 1,228 seat auditorium will be renovated to suit the needs of the University, as well as the needs of the surrounding community. Plan A is designing this project in conjunction with CS Arch.
