A government sponsored design competition for one of the city’s 10 cultural projects. The design was based on the notion that knowledge should be free and transparent. The frit on the glass skin are various quotations on the subject of knowledge and learning. The central reading courtyard provides a tranquil setting separated from the surrounding high density urban environment.
This project was designed by Aaron B. Schwarz and other Perkins Eastman team members during Aaron’s tenure as Principal and Executive Director of the firm.
